Mr. Armond A. Sasso Sr., 91, of West Orange, N.J., formerly of Bloomfield, N.J., and Forked River, N.J., passed away on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016, at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, N.J. For directions, or to send online condolences, please visit biondifuneralhome.com.
Mr. Sasso was born in Belleville, N.J., and resided in Bloomfield and Forked River before moving to West Orange. He was a machinist foreman for McKiernan-Terry in Harrison, N.J., and for Litton Industries in Bloomfield. He was later the owner of Classic Clowns in Forked River for many years before retiring. Mr. Sasso was a varsity baseball coach for Essex Catholic High School in Newark and for the Bloomfield American Legion. He was the originator of the North Bloomfield Babe Ruth League. Mr. Sasso served honorably with the U.S. Navy Seabees during World War II. He is survived by his beloved sons, Dennis and Kenneth Sasso; his loving stepchildren, Karen Byrd and her husband, Wayne; Theresa Sandello; Robert Kovach and his wife, Rosaly, and Sandra Berkeland and her husband, Kirk; his dear sisters, Viola Greco and Edith Krier; and also by his 13 cherished grandchildren and four precious great-grandchildren. Mr. Sasso was predeceased by his wives, Agnes Barbara (nee O'Keefe) Sasso and Carolyn E. (nee Kovach) Sasso, and also his sons, Leonard Sasso and Armond A. Sasso Jr.
