Martin E. Betz Jr.

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA -- Martin E. Betz Jr. of Virginia Beach, Va., died peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on June 6.
Martin was born in Bayshore Long Island, N.Y., on Oct. 14, 1938. He joined the United States Navy in January 1960 and served his country for 20 years. He retired to Tyngsboro and lived there for 25 years before moving to Virginia Beach in May 2003.
He was married to the love of his life, Bonnie S. Betz, who he would have celebrated 54 years of marriage to on June 7.
Martin enjoyed woodworking, hiking and working in his garden. Most of all, he and Bonnie enjoyed sharing their home with their family, church and neighbors.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie S. Betz, his daughter Nina Chronopoulos and her husband Christopher Chronopoulos of Nashua, N.H.; Joseph Betz and his wife Emily Betz of Cardinal, Va.; and 4 granddaughters: Chelsea Chronopoulos, Ashley Chronopoulos, Rileigh Betz and Avery Betz.
