Harold "Sam" Greer

“Sam,” 88, of Rochelle Park, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017. Sam was a member of American Legion Post 170, Rochelle Park. He was an Army veteran who served our country proudly.
Cherished husband of 63 years to Dana (nee Esposito). Beloved father of Ken Greer of Ocean Grove, N.J., Linda (Ted) Pietranski of Saddle Brook, N.J., and John (Lisa) Greer of Arlington Heights, Ill. Treasured grandfather of David and Jonathan Greer, and Danielle (Brian) Marchese, Carly and Erik Pietranski.
Sam graduated from West Point in 1954, and served in Georgia, Kansas and Germany. He strove to incorporate the West Point motto “Duty, Honor, Country” into all aspects of life. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren, and especially cherished extended family gatherings. He founded and ran a successful manufacturer’s representative agency, Greer Associates, supplying industrial electrical equipment to companies and government agencies in the greater New York area for over 30 years. He was a walking road atlas, and could often be seen near the New York Port Authority giving directions to confused tourists. He had a quick wit, and gave an easy thumbs-up to all, right to the end. In his last years, he enjoyed his daily walk up the street to Sacred Heart Church, where he would sit in a pew at the back and talk to God.
