Andrew Jackson Abernathy

Andrew “Father” “Brother” Jackson Abernathy was born Jan. 25,
1944, to Lawrence Abernathy and Alice Harris in Memphis,
Tenn. He was a member of Cross of Calvary Lutheran Church.
Andrew was educated in the Memphis City School System and was
a 1962 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School.
Abernathy served in the United States Navy for four years. After
being discharged from the Navy, he was employed with the United
States Postal Service until his retirement in 2012. Andrew was a
connoisseur of collectibles, and enjoyed the love of the cowboy life
while raising and caring for horses. He was a big fan of the Green
Bay Packers and loved to travel with his wife and the “Jerry Myers”
traveling group.
Andrew was united in holy matrimony to Marcella Delores Caldwell
in 1963. They were classmates and friends wrapped into one.
Andrew Jackson Abernathy leaves to cherish his memory: his
devoted daughter, Andrea Michelle; his grandson, Xavier
Abernathy; brother-in-law Tyrone (Barbara) Caldwell; and a host of
other family members and friends.
