Daniel L. (Dan) Jones

Daniel Lee Jones, 74, of Plano, passed away on Aug. 15, 2018, at Wayne County Hospital. Dan was born on March 30, 1944, in Centerville to Daniel and Bertrice (Bateman) Jones. Dan graduated from Seymour High School in 1962 and then attended Centerville Community College until 1964.
Dan joined the U.S. Army and after discharge worked as a telecommunications technician for several years. On Nov. 16, 1990, he married Nancy Strasser in Boulder, Colo.
In his spare time, Dan enjoyed whitewater rafting, bike riding and traveling to Cozumel, Mexico. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and loved his home.
Dan is survived by his wife, Nancy; son, Scott (Carol) Jones; daughter, Meghan Jones; grandchildren: Molly and Dylan; stepson, Gary Alness; step-grandchildren: Raven Mays and Rachell Jones, as well as Rachell’s adopted parents: Billy and Bobbie Jones; sister, Diana (Bob) Linhardt; nephews: Chris and Craig Linhardt and their families; “the best dog in the world,” Sadie Mae, and a herd of cats. Dan is also survived by good friends John and Ev Wright, who did so much for him and Nancy. He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepson, Paul Alness.
Interment at Southlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Iowa or to HCI Hospice, and online condolences may be shared at www.thomasfh.com.
