Francis Joseph "Frank" Chupa, 90, of Harrisburg, Pa., formerly of Lansford and Summit Hill, Pa., died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018 at his home following a brief illness. Frank was born on Dec. 5, 1927. Following his high school graduation in 1945, Frank was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving as a medical NCO in the Philippines. He was discharged following World War II at the rank of sergeant; he was a member of The American Legion and was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Frank attended Temple University in Philadelphia. He was the owner of Frank's ESSO in Harrisburg, Chupa's Gulf in Camp Hill, and was a retiree of the Commonwealth of PA and the U.S. Post Office. He was a member of St. Patrick Cathedral in Harrisburg where he served as an extraordinary minister, providing the Eucharist to parishioners and the homebound. Frank was the loving and devoted husband of his wife of 57 years, Yvonne (Magaro) Chupa. He was the dedicated and proud father of five children and their spouses: Michael (Anna), Francine (Peter) Welsh, Janine, Steven (Tanya), and Angeline (Kevin Byrnes). He is also survived by six grandchildren. Frank was predeceased by his parents, Stephen and Mary (Pavlic) Chupa of Summit Hill, and sisters Irene Wolf and Elizabeth Martin.
