Harold Ray Haley

Harold Ray Haley, 93, formerly of Lawrence County, died Jan. 4, 2019, in Phoenix. He was a World War II and Korean War veteran.
Born July 15, 1925, in Maryland, he worked for General Motors on the Titan project and Apollo Space program at Kennedy Space Center. While at Kennedy, he joined the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and took part in search-and-rescue missions.
Upon retirement, he and his wife, Patricia, moved to the family farm in Lawrence County, where he built their home. He was appointed the county veteran service officer and served for 18 years. He was very active in military organizations, including the VFW and American Legion, where he was elected state vice commander.
He and Pat moved to St. Petersburg, Fla., where he became a Knight of Columbus and served as deputy grand knight. He became a 4th Degree Knight and joined the color guard.
He is survived by daughters Kim Graber, Shawn Laughing White Squirrel and Ivy (Thomas) Boyer, grandson Gabriel Quinn Graber, and sister Genevieve Haley Richardson.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Patricia; and his stepson, Peter John Wilsand.
Interment will be at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
