Peter Colburn Crowe Demro

The Very Reverend Father Peter C. Demro (Colburn), age 88, passed away on March 18, 2019. Father Demro was an archpriest of the Antiochian Christian Orthodox Church and Pastor Emeritus of St. Basil The Great Orthodox Church of Silver Springs, Fla. He was born September 14, 1930, to Conrad George and Pearl Demro, in Dania, Fla. A Navy corpsman and Korean War veteran, he was a life member of The American Legion. He held local, district, state and national offices and was a counselor with the American Legion Boys State program for eight years. He graduated from South Broward High School in Dania; the Naval Hospital Corps School; Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and the Greek Orthodox Seminary, in Brookline, Mass. He volunteered with fire departments, the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary, Marion County (FL) Sheriff's Department Citizen Patrol and Mount Dora Police Department. He served on two hospital institutional review boards, the hospice program, a trustee of a community assistance program and an allocation committee for the homeless. He was a past president and life member of the Florida Pharmaceutical Association.

He was the grandfather of 9 and the great-grandfather of 13, with 4 more to be born before the end of 2019. He lived his life to be of service to others. He was a pharmacist for almost 30 years before deciding to follow his calling into the ministry, where he served another 33 years. He has joined his bride, Diane Drowne Demro, married 58 years before her death in 2014, and his infant son, David Colburn Demro (1958). He is survived by his three daughters: Mary Katherine (Demro) Armstrong (Harvey), Elizabeth Anne (Demro) Glenny (David), and Joanna Helen (Demro) Karner (Myron). Peter was the youngest of 5 children and his death is the last in his family line.

He will be missed beyond measure, but we know where he is. "Helper of God, Servant to Man"
