Ronald Kenneth White Sr. of Danville, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 19, 2020, following a brief period of declining health. Ronald was born in Pittsylvania County on July 30, 1938, to the late Walter Murrell White Sr. and the late Rachel Barksdale White. Ronald is survived by his devoted wife, Nannie Robertson White. They were devoted to each other and for many years enjoyed traveling and Friday date nights.
Ronald attended Southside High School. After 22 years of service in the United States Army he retired as a sergeant first class. During his tenure Ronald proudly served in the Vietnam War as a cook. This led to his decision to pursue a career in cooking.
Papa, as he was affectionately called by many, was a member of Jones Chapel Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and his only beloved brother, Walter M. White Jr. He was a member of American Legion Post 29 in Danville.
In addition to his wife, Ronald is survived by his daughters, Dionne White Hawkins of Dinwiddie, Va.; Nicole White Toomer (Larry) of Danville; and Erica L. White of Upper Marlboro, Md.', his sons, Ronald Kenneth White Jr. (Jenny) of Danville and Michael L. White of Burkeville, Va.; his brothers-in-law, Raymond Robertson (Barbara) and Roscoe Robertson (Rosa), both of Danville; his sister-in-law, Joyce White of Washington, D.C.; his nephews, Reginald White of Washington,D.C.; Jermaine Robertson (Carlissa), Sean Hamlin and Toni Hamlin, all of Greensboro, N.C.; his nieces, LaMonica White of Durham, N.C., and Tina Robertson of Greensboro; grandchildren, Brittany White Scott (Clifton Jr.),Whitney White, Ronald White III, Charity White; Glenn Hawkins Jr.; Asia and Wesley Toomer; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
