Edward J. O’Dowd, 84, of Lodi, passed away on April 16, 2022. He was born in Jersey City to the late Edward and Adele O’Dowd. He graduated from Henry Snyder High School in Jersey City. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis and was honorably discharged in December 1966. He worked as a parts manager for International Harvester in New York and as a dispatcher for United Carting/Waste Management in Fairview. Ed was a member and past president of the Lodi Old Timers. He coached Little League baseball and was a Scout leader for many years. He was a life member of Rochelle Park American Legion Post 170, and served as commander and past commander for many years. He was also a member of Saddle Brook VFW Post 3484. Ed was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales R.C. Church in Lodi. Beloved husband of Roberta (nee Powers) for 58 years. Devoted father of Ronald and Stephen O’Dowd. Loving grandfather of Joseph “Poochie“ O’Dowd. Cherished “Pop” of Joe Arroyo, Anthony and Alexandra. Dear “Pop” to his friend Dennis Duddie. Dear brother of Janet Scott and late husband Larry, Doris Peluso and husband Guy, the late Carol Walling and husband Brian, and brother-in-law of Grace Vallese and late husband George. He will be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends.
