In which Legion department did the American Legion Riders get its start?

Michigan. In 1993, members of Post 396 in Garden City decided to start a post group for motorcycle enthusiasts. From there, it has grown into a thriving member of the Legion family, with more than 100,000 Riders – Legionnaires, Auxiliary members and Sons – meeting in more than 1,000 chapters in every U.S. department and at least three foreign countries.
