Who won the very first American Legion Baseball World Series?

The first World Series tournament, played in Philadelphia in 1926, was won by Cook Post 321 of Yonkers, N.Y. Although the Legion Baseball program had a bit of a rocky time after that, once it got on its feet it took off like a ... baseball flying over the fence.

In 1972, the city of Yonkers inducted the Post 321 team into its Sports Hall of Fame as "1926 Junior World Baseball Champions." Read more about the team here.

The runup to this year’s Legion World Series has started with regional play, ahead of the finals later this month in Shelby, N.C.
