Like those of today, the first competition, held in 1991, produced two winners: Everett Miskelly of the Department of Mississippi (West Point High School in West Point) in the Precision category, and Richard Wilson of the Department of Arizona (Marcos de Niza High School in Tempe) in the Sporter category.

Alan Rodriguez’s victory in the Sporter category earlier this month marked Arizona’s first championship since Wilson’s.
