Both presidential candidates received commemorative medallions at convention

American Legion immediate Past National Commander Dale Barnett presented U.S. presidential candidates Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton each with his commander's medallion during the 98th American Legion National Convention in Cincinnati on separate dates in late August. All speakers at the convention, other than those who were receiving national awards, were presented commemorative commander's medallion from the commander.

American Legion National Headquarters has received some calls from members who incorrectly believe that only Clinton received a medallion from Barnett, in a blue box, on stage. Trump also received a medallion for speaking, but he received it backstage when the national commander greeted him and welcomed him to the convention.

The American Legion is a non-partisan organization and does not support any political candidate for office.
