Kansas post hopes to draw big crowd for Community Day

The flyer promoting Community Day at American Legion Post 64 in Pittsburg, Kan., is already out of date.

“I didn’t in my wildest dreams think it would be this good,” Post Commander Robert Munson said.

The post will host its Community Day from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday. Munson said since the flyer was made, a variety of exhibits and vendors have been added.

He said U.S. Army equipment will be on display, as well as Lifeline helicopter, fire department ladder trucks and police and EMS equipment. There will also be an obstacle course set up.

Vendors will include local Honda and Kawasaki dealers, John Deere, the Kansas State Lottery, Sam’s Club, Home Depot and others. Munson said the Legion family will also have information on programs such as Boys State, Girls State and Youth Cadet Law Enforcement, and will have ways for those eligible to join the Legion, Sons of The American Legion, the Auxiliary and Legion Riders.
