Tango Alpha Lima podcast examines veterans coronavirus deaths

In this week’s episode of The American Legion’s Tango Alpha Lima podcast the co-hosts take on a range of issues from COVID deaths at VA hospitals to Blue Water Navy vet benefits to floating unicorns.

Jeff Daly, a Marine Corps veteran and member of American Legion Post 43 in Hollywood, Calif., strikes a serious note when bringing up the topic of “COVID deaths at veterans homes that is becoming criminal and people are being prosecuted.”

Among the recent news developments: More than 100 veterans have died of coronavirus at a New Jersey VA hospital and two former high-ranking administrators were indicted in connection with the deaths of veterans at the facility in Holyoke, Mass. Daly and co-host Mark Seavey, an Army veteran, discuss legitimacy of the criminal charges.

In another serious topic, co-host Ashley Gorbulja-Maldonado discusses the legislation that allows approximately 90,000 Blue Water Navy veterans to receive VA compensation related to Agent Orange exposure. The hope is that this will speed up the disability claims for affected veterans, she says, adding that VA has awarded over $641 million so far this year to more than 22,000 veterans or their survivors. ”Well deserved and well past due,” the Army National Guard veteran summarizes.

If you need help with VA claims — for Agent Orange exposure or anything — contact an American Legion accredited service officer. This service is provided free for all veterans.

And don’t miss the colorful dialogue about the floating unicorns, male fashionistas, Space Force and more.
