Legion Veterans Day ad slick distributed

Legion Veterans Day ad slick distributed

The American Legion Public Relations Division has created a special ad slick for Veterans Day, which it is sending via e-mail to more than 8,000 daily and weekly newspapers across the United States.

According to division director Joe March, the high-resolution ads – which are available in both black-and-white and color – are meant to afford publications the chance to express their support and appreciation for veterans both new and old. A line in the downloadable PDF form allows the publication to insert its title and join the Legion in “saluting our military veterans of all wars this Nov. 11 – and every day.” It can be used for this purpose as a stand-alone ad; or the publication could insert a different copy block – for instance, “these local businesses” – and use it to head a page of local companies’ expressions of appreciation. And although the ads were designed for print publications, they can also be used online, for the publications’ websites or anywhere else accepted.

These ads are a good way of getting The American Legion displayed prominently in local spotlights across the country. To that end, the Public Relations Division, in addition to sending links directly to the publications, has also sent them to department public relations chairmen, who should in turn send them to posts. This will result in local Legionnaires offering the ads to their local papers.

The links to the PDF forms are here for color and here for black and white. Call (317) 630-1253, or e-mail pr@legion.org, with any questions.
