Fort Donelson National Cemetery, (Dover, Tenn.) Wreaths Across America (WAA) ceremony, with Dover Post 72 official coordinator

The ceremony was conducted a day early (Dec. 18) due to the possibility of showers on Saturday. We would like to thank staff from Fort Donelson National Battlefield and Cemetery, and the WAA coordinating unit personnel (Dover Post 72 Legion Family) for participating in today's ceremony and wreath placement. This year has been particularly hard on many families, and events being canceled just adds to the uneasiness. Both organizations wanted to ensure the Fort Donelson National Cemetery WAA ceremony and wreath placement was one of those events that did not get canceled. The more than 150 participants from last year's ceremony were surely missed, and unfortunately we were limited to the number of participants to lay wreaths. But nevertheless, as Americans we do what we need to do, we get things done.
There are still ways you can remember our fallen U.S. veterans, honor those who serve, and teach your children the value of freedom. Visit the Fort Donelson National Cemetery, from Dec. 19-Jan. 10, approach any of the headstones, and say the veteran's name aloud. (Military personnel may render a hand salute). If you have the opportunity to do this, look on the backside of the wreath and remove the tag that says; "I placed a wreath on the hero's grave." Please ensure the wreaths are not moved - some are grave-specific, sponsored by a family member. We thank everyone for their support and the 2021 goal is to have 100 percent coverage of the Fort Donelson National Cemetery. Together we can do this.
