Post 294 of Missouri City, Texas, has been actively engaged with the Missouri City Parks and Recreation Department during the ongoing process of promoting the construction of a veterans memorial. This was initially spearheaded starting in 2014 by veteran and former city council member (and at the time Post 294 member) Don Smith. Post 294 has been in constant communication with the city and is active in the sale of pavers as part of the funding. On Dec. 21 the city Council unanimously approved authorizing the city manager to execute a contract for the construction of the veterans memorial project. It is expected that the construction of the memorial will be completed in time for a formal dedication by Veterans Day 2021. Post 294 will be a major participant in the dedication ceremonies.
