Mildred Gort, a former Post 974 commander and Air Force veteran, and her son, Detachment Commander Eugene Gort, are honored as "Generational Hometown Heroes" at their local high school football game. Mildred is a 26-year member of The American Legion, and Eugene is a 25-year member of the Sons of the American Legion.
