The Veterans Honor Guard dedicates itself to service

Members of The American Legion, AM VETS and the VFW in the Parker's Crossroads, Tenn., area have associated themselves together to form the Veterans Honor Guard. A level of VSO cooperation we would like to see more of. A group focused primarily on presenting full military honors for deceased veterans and their families. To date, in 2016 alone, the Veterans Honor Guard has participated with pride in over 15 veterans' funerals and memorial services. With personnel and budget constraints, it is difficult for our military to provide more than 2 or 3 members to honor our deceased veterans. The Veterans Honor Guard strives to augment our military in order to ensure that eligible veterans and their families receive full military honors. Members of the Veterans Honor Guard are currently being trained by the Tennessee Army National Guard to achieve the high level of proficiency required for its own Honor Guard. Patriotic programs such as the 13 folds, flag retirement programs and the POW/MIA table have been presented to schools, Scouting organizations and local government functions. The Veterans Honor Guard has posted colors, dedicated flagpoles and marched in parades for organizations as varied as churches, Boy Scout troops and Chambers of Commerce. While each member of the Veterans Honor Guard has commitments to their individual VSO, it is the Veterans Honor Guard which, for me, strengthens my comradeship with other veterans as well as my pride and respect in my country and community.
