Gulf Coast Veterans Advocacy Council honors Legionnaire with George Everette "Bud" Day Award

Robbie A. Gregg was born in Darlington, South Carolina, on November 17, 1963. He spent his adolescent years in Yonkers, New York. Gregg graduated from Charles E. Gorton High School in 1982. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy. After attending numerous military schools, his first duty station was onboard USS White Plains (AFS-4), which at the time was home ported out of Yokosuka, Japan. He has served onboard six additional naval ships (USS Richmond K. Turner (CG-20), USS Fairfax County (LST-1193), USS Coral Sea (CV-43), USS Sentry (MCM-3) and Champion (MCM-4), and finally on USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63). He has earned the Enlisted Surface Warfare, Air Warfare Specialist and Master Training Specialist designations. Gregg’s enlisted service has spanned over 23 distinguished years, achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer.
Mr. Gregg completed his bachelor's degree while on active duty. He subsequently earned his master's degree in Higher Education Leadership and Administration from Capella University, where he is also currently pursuing his doctoral degree in Education with a specialization in Educational Leadership and Management. He currently serves as the Director of Veterans Upward Bound (VUB), a Department of Education grant funded TRIO program, housed at Pensacola State College. VUB is designed to motivate and assist eligible veterans who are first-generation in college, low-income, and have a need in the development of academic and other requisite skills necessary for acceptance and success in a postsecondary education program.
Mr. Gregg serves on various community and national organizations that support veteran issues, including the National Association of Veterans Upward Bound and the Gulf Coast Veterans Advocacy Council. He also currently serves as the Commander of American Legion Post 193. Mr. Gregg is an outspoken advocate for veterans issues and is often called upon for consultation and advice to help promote the advancement of veteran causes throughout the region.
