Post 240 in Daleville, Va., introduces Blue Star program in Botetourt County

"We are seeking out all of our Blue Star Families. Our goal is to find them all," said Ed Bennett, chairman of the Blue Star program for Post 240 in Daleville, Va.

A Blue Star Service Banner hanging in the window of a home is a reminder that military service touches nearly every street. It's a symbol that whoever lives in that house has a loved one actively deployed.

Ed, along with adjutant Joel Eig, have now presented three families with their Blue Star Flag. Starting in 2021, Terry Tucker of Fincastle, herself a Blue Star Mother, will assist with this program in Botetourt County, Va.

The closest office of the Blue Star program is located in Charlottesville, Va.., which is approximately 100 miles from Post 240. They are presently attempting to open a recognized office within Botetourt County that would be able to service a large part of southwestern Virginia.
