On Nov. 10, 2016, the Iowa High School Athletic Association asked that Webster City High School and Glenwood High School send a veteran representative from their community to attend the semifinal football game, which was held at the University of Northern Iowa, and be recognized on field between the end of the 1st quarter and the start of the 2nd quarter.
They would appear in front of approximately 4,000-plus fans and also be on live TV. The representatives were Jim Thrane from Glenwood Post 141, District 7, and District 8 Commander Marvin Carr from Webster City Post 191.
The Iowa High School Athletic Association asked all schools, 20 in all, to have a veteran representative be present.
