Hidden War - Fighting for America's Wildlands

Lt. John Nores is a reality TV star, an author, and a warrior for the Thin Green Line who has been fighting hard to protect our environment for 28 years. Lt. Nores has been in the forefront of a hidden war against drug cartels growing illegal marijuana on our government lands. Marijuana is grown illegally in all 50 states, including Montana. Each year, between 4,000 and 6,000 trespass growers take to the woods, cultivating and protecting their crop day and night. As we all know, the drug problem in our country is huge. It’s not the legal growers that are the problem, but the illegal growers. In 2016, illegal sales of marijuana were estimated at $46.6 billion, and black-market illegal sales made up 87 percent of all weed sales.– both legal and illegal. This is pretty outlandish when you consider that in that same year, corn sales were $23.3 billion and wheat sales were $7.5 billion.
Why should we care if illegal marijuana fills our lands? U.S. Congressman from California Jared Huffman tells it best: “California’s North Coast is one of the most beautiful landscapes in the United States. Yet the region’s remoteness conceals some of its most disturbing environmental challenges: dewatered streams, polluted watersheds, illegal logging and safety to wildlife, human visitors and downstream communities. This frightening set of problems stems from a single cause: Illegal marijuana – cultivation sites established on remote private, tribal, state and public lands.” It’s in the best interest of our hikers, bikers, sportsmen and outdoor fans to eliminate these dangerous cartels and keep the state’s environment safe.
Lt. Nores has written a new book coming out in a few weeks called "Hidden War: How Special Operations Game Wardens are Reclaiming America’s Wildlands from the Drug Cartels, "and Huffman wrote the foreword to it. John was the founder of the elite California Special Operations Marijuana Enforcement Team (MET), and this book is about MET. "Hidden War" brings to life the unreported struggle between the drug cartels and America’s unsung heroes fighting to keep our government lands safe. The timing on this is extraordinary, with the debate about border security, the effect of poison marijuana and the national debate over both. This book will tell people what’s really going on in the “Emerald Triangle” and across the country. Oliver North has endorsed this book.
