I served on swift boats in the Mekong Delta. In 2018 I published my story in a book titled "Through the Water and the Fire: A Swift Boat Sailor's Story." It is a true combat story, a history lesson, an autobiography, and a witness to the love and grace of God. Based on my letters and audio tapes sent home, I allow the reader to glance through a window into the mind, heart and emotions of a Vietnam combat sailor as well as glimpse my reflections of the Vietnam era as a retired veteran decades later. Between the covers of my book I herald the value of freedom, reveal the cost of freedom and share my laments when sacrifice is wasted.
