Hi!
Well last night was a wonderful experience for me. I met a bunch of good people at the hall. We were putting together fruit baskets for local veterans in the smaller nursing homes and personal care homes here in Alvin. A group delivered them bright and early this morning to hand them out.

I got up bright an early and met some of the Auxillary members at the local Kroger store and another group met at another local Store called Stanton's Grocery/Hardware store. We handed out poppies for donations. We did really good!

We thanked the managers of the stores and presented them with certificates of appreciation for supporting and allowing us to set up in front of their businesses for our fundraisers.

As soon as I get copies of the photos from last nights fruit basket-get together and our poppy day today I'll post them!

I love the people I've met in just the last 24 hours and I really feel wonderful having volunteered my Saturday morning for such a wonderful cause.

I met a man whose heart was heavy because his wife deployed out to Iraq this morning. I met families that were educating their children on what and who a veteran is as they made donations and said thank you.

Today was a really really awesome day!
