William Weech American Legion Post 168, the American Legion, Inc is located at 803 Emma Street, Key West, Florida at the southernmost point of the United States. William Weech American Legion Post 168 is the remaining Post(s) to continue service to their fellow comrades of a Joint Venture with (Historic) VFW Walter R. Mickens Post 6021. August 25, 1951 the members broke ground for their new Home Post, dedicating it to William Weech American Legion Post 168 and (historic) VFW Walter R. Mickens Post 6021.

During segregation the men of WWI, WWII and the Korean War vowed to remain true to the preamble of the American Legion with dignity and integrity as Veterans. Native Veterans on the Island of Key West, Florida remained diligent to their pledges and acknowledged each other for their own bravery. This unique Joint Venture signified the love and respect these men had for one another; but most of all providing for the Veterans, their families and the Community as a host to over ten thousand (10,000) Black military personnel deployed in the Florida Keys, during the early 50's, late 60's. Many Veterans married native women and continued their service.

On May 15, 2011, William Weech Post 168 received a SAL Charter. August 25, 2011, this Post will celebrate sixty - (60) years. We look forward to visitors from various Post and around the world.
