Dealing with the death of a veteran can be difficult; however, you can receive help. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Vet Centers offers Bereavement Counseling to family members of Armed Forces personnel who died in the service of their country. Also eligible are family members of Reservists and National Guardsmen who die while on duty. The Vet Center Program provides free and confidential bereavement counseling at over 300 Vet Centers across the Country to families who have lost Service members while serving on active duty. If you would like to schedule an appointment, you can call your nearest Vet Center. Often counseling can be made available in the family's home or where the family feels most comfortable
