Zack Hearn, deputy director of benefits for the Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation Division, and Ian de Planque, deputy director of the Legislative Division, are participating in a conference call with Government Accountability Office (GAO) staff. Congress has requested GAO to review VA’s accuracy and consistency regarding the adjudication of benefits claims. Those participating in the conference call will discuss:

• To what extent do VA’s various quality review procedures effectively detect errors and inconsistencies in disability claim decisions?
• What steps has VA taken to improve accuracy and consistency and meet its fiscal year 2015 accuracy target?
• What remaining challenges does VA face in improving accuracy and consistency?
