We have a dinner for veterans on Christmas Day. This is our 6th year. We always fill our small hall in Pacifica, Calif., and everyone has a good time. I have recruted several new members this way. The vets do not go through a cow line, they have a menu in front of them and they can choose what they want. We have both ham and turkey with all the fixings and your server gets your food for you. There is no cost as the community comes together and funds all of this. My cook is the head nutritionist at the San Francisco VA and does a great job. Having it on the holiday makes it special and the vets like it. Any other day would not be as special.
