He was the Captain of the football team. You were the Homecoming Queen. Just like that fairy tale, your mother told you about.
He went off first, settled in Georgia, came back for you that next spring. Took you to your new life, the wife of an Airborne Ranger.

He was always gone in the middle of the night. Always the first one in the middle of a fight. Don't remember that fairytale, had all those lonely nights. Always so proud of your man, leading the wayevery chance he can. Mother tried to warn you, but you fell in love with an Airborne Ranger.

In August of that year, you watched him pack up his gear. A short goodbye, you watched tjose planes fly out of sight. Chocking back tears, you gave out one of those Ranger wife cheers... Hoo-ah!

Three months later as the birds came into view, back on the flight line your worst fears came true. You were only thankful that your Ranger's tours were finally through. He was always gone in the middle of the night. Always the first one in the middle of a fight. Don't remember that fairytale, had all those lonely nights. Always so proud of your man, leading the wayevery chance he can. Mother tried to warn you, but you fell in love with an Airborne Ranger.
