Many survived by becoming workaholics, alcoholics, drugs, or occasionally through the love and understanding of someone who truly cared. It's difficult to understand our situation(s), but we deserve this if nothing else ...

“The Soldier Pays“, by Jerry D. Brooks, SFC (Ret) was placed on The Wall of Honor at the Robley Rex Veterans Administration Medical Center in Louisville, Kentucky for Veterans Day 2012. A framed copy has since been placed on display locally at American Legion Post 113 in Elizabethtown KY and Veterans of Foreign War (VFW) Post 10281 in Vine Grove, KY.
