Flight academy hosts American Legion Week

The National Flight Academy (NFA) invites American Legion posts and members to help sponsor students during American Legion Week, July 3-8, at the facility in Pensacola, Fla.

NFA is a week-long immersive program in which middle and high school students learn STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) skills from instructors and veterans at the academy. For six days, participants live “on ship” – a multi-story, 102,000-square-foot facility – eating in a mess hall, sleeping in staterooms, and experiencing the constant rumble of the ship’s engine’s and aircraft taking off.

The flight academy will match every sponsored scholarship for students attending the six-day development program. During the Legion's 2014 Fall Meetings, the National Executive Committee approved a resolution endorsing the flight academy.

To help sponsor a student, download and fill out the sponsorship form at www.nationalflightacademy.com/legion and send to Caitlyn Kohler, registration coordinator, at ckohler@nationalflightacademy.com. She will respond with approved registration materials for all scholarship recipients.

All students must be registered by their parent or guardian by June 10. To register a student, fill out the form here.
