Job openings for disabled veterans

The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) says it has a number of immediate job openings for veterans with a disability rating of 30 percent or more who are interested in becoming background investigators, program analysts, management analysts and accounting technicians for the government. Depending upon the job duties, pay ranges from about $32,000 to $70,000 per year.

To fill these job openings, OPM is staging an online Veterans Hiring Event between now and midnight, January 6, 2011. Details about the jobs themselves, candidate qualifications and application procedures are available at www.fedshirevets.gov/job/events.

I agree, it's the old Bait & Switch routine. With all the news about readjustment problems after returning from combat, it's not that easy for a vet to get a job during this period of high unemployment. Should have gone to college and got a degree in paperwork & bureaucracy rather than enlist to fight the wars.

OPM is nothing more than a Press show. If you think that the OPM office is going to assist, keep dreaming. A good question is how many employees do they have that are Disabled Vet’s? Much less 30% and above. I deal with the OPM offices and they are of no help…………………

I would have to agree with the first comment. It really got my hopes up and I went straight to the site, only to be disappointed.

I went right away to this opm site and there's like maybe 16 openings for let's say 60,000 veterans that are at least 30% disabled or more. It's almost like this country is making fun of vets and their families. Does anyone on this website believe you can live in Washington DC on 32,000 a year? And bye the way there's only one position so you better hurry!!
