The American Legion is dedicated to inspiring leadership, good citizenship, and excellence in America’s future leaders through a variety of youth programs.
  • American Legion Baseball

    Healthy competition, good citizenship, and sportsmanship since 1926.
  • Boys State / Boys Nation

    Students learn firsthand how government and democracy work.
  • Junior Shooting Sports

    A safety education and marksmanship program for youth.
  • Oratorical Contest

    Since 1938, the contest has developed knowledge and appreciation for the U.S. Constitution among high school students.
  • Scholarships

    Empowering academic excellence through scholarships for youth across the nation.

 


Associated Programs

  • Scouting

    Since 1919, American Legion posts have supported local Scouting units as independent community partners. Learn more about this long-standing relationship promoting youth leadership, citizenship, and service.
  • Youth Cadet Law Enforcement

    American Legion departments and posts sponsor Youth Cadet Law Enforcement programs in cooperation with state and local law enforcement agencies, giving participants first-hand exposure to law enforcement operations.
