Michael William Burt, 66, passed away on Nov. 27, 2014 in Sarasota, Fla.
He is survived by his children Michael C. Burt of Sarasota and Melissa Burt of New York, grandchildren Angel & Eva Burt of Sarasota, great-grandchild Zayden Burt of Sarasota, brother Patrick Burt, sisters Phyllis VanGalder and Shirley Hendershott, and many loved ones and friends.
Mike was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1967 and spent basic training in Texas training as a medical assistant. He was then sent to Germany, where he continued to serve and was promoted to Medical Specialist SP4. During the time he served, he received an Expert M-14 National Defense Service Medal.
After serving two years, Mike returned to upstate New York where he actively served in the U.S. Reserves until August 1973. During this time he became married to Eneida Burt, who he met in Germany and who was also in the U.S. Army, and had two children, Michael and Melissa.
In 1977, the family moved from upstate New York to Sarasota, and that is where he lived the remainder of his life enjoying the warmth and sunshine surrounded by family and friends.
He will be greatly missed.
