James Louis Ruggiero

James Louis Ruggiero, 90, passed away Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015, after a short illness.
James was born to Joseph and Carmela Siano Ruggiero of Brooklyn, N.Y., on Feb. 4, 1925. He proudly served his country during World War II as a military policeman in the 271st Infantry, 69th Division, from May 1943 to April 1946, during which time he met and married his wife of 50 years, Vassie Marie Conner, who was a member of the Women's Army Corps. They moved to Fort Worth after discharge from the Army. James graduated from Texas Christian University and went to work for the Civil Service Commission (CSC) of the federal government. During his career he was active in voter's rights and women's rights for the CSC. He was a proud and patriotic American born of Italian immigrants who came to the United States on a ship from Italy, entering America through Ellis Island.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Carmela Ruggiero; infant daughter, Connie Marie Ruggiero; and his beloved wife, Vassie Marie Conner Ruggiero.
Survivors: his daughter, Rosanne Robertson and husband, Jerry; son, Fred Ruggiero and wife, Tambre; son, Richard Ruggiero and wife, Lynda; grandchildren, Richard Ruggiero II, Calvin James Ruggiero, Elsa Ann Marie Ruggiero and Emily Rose Marie Ruggiero; and great-grandchildren, Alysia Michelle Ruggiero and Christian James Ruggiero.
