Esther Zeller Alley

Esther Zeller Alley, born on Nov. 3, 1917, in Winterset, Iowa, went to be with the Lord on Aug. 12, 2015 at the age of 97. She had been a resident of San Antonio since 1948, and served her country during World War II in the US Navy (WAVES). Esther was a member of The American Legion and a charter member of the Leon Valley Historical Society. She was a housewife, taught kindergarten for 20+ years and enjoyed singing in her church choirs, often as a soloist. Esther was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Kenneth LeRoy Alley (2006), her parents, sister Iowa Nichols, twin brothers Fred and Frank Zeller, and an infant son, Raymond Louis. She is survived by two sons, Gordon Alley and Craig Alley (Karen); two grandchildren, Kevin and Brian (Kristi); three great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Leon Valley Historical Society, PO Box 380644, SAT 78268.
