The Legion is conducting a half-day Heroes to Hometown Career Fair for job-seeking veterans today in Washington, D.C. The job fair, one of a continuing series of such events nationwide, is co-sponsored by RecruitMilitary, the leading full-service military-to-civilian recruiting firm in the United States.

Monitoring budget presentations to House, Senate Veterans Affairs committees

Members of the House and Senate Veterans Affairs committees are hearing presentations from eight veterans and military service organizations today. The VSOs and MSOs are outlining their legislative priorities for the coming year. Legion staffers are monitoring the session. National Commander Jimmie Foster made the Legion’s presentation to the joint committee last September.

The Legion is monitoring a hearing by the Senate Appropriations Committee as its members consider the U.S. Navy’s budget request for the next fiscal year. Meanwhile, the House appropriations Committee is scrutinizing the Department of Veterans Affairs fiscal 2012 budget request with the Legion looking on.
