District 7 Meeting

Dear District 7 Post Commanders, Officers and Legion Family,

I would like to take this opportunity to invite all Legion Family Members to the District 7 Fall Meeting, which is being hosted by Swan Valley Post 97. This meeting will be held at the American Legion Hall (157 Stoltenberg Lane, Swan Valley, Idaho 83449), on Saturday, September 23, 2017.

Since the scheduled format of our District 7 Spring Meeting proved successful, we will continue to utilize the same agenda. If you attended our last meeting, I am sure that you appreciated the opportunity to participate in constructive meetings, while salvaging a majority of your Saturday for quality family time. If you were unable to join us for the Spring Meeting, please make every effort to attend on September 23, 2017 to see first-hand that we can continue to sanctify our comradeship, plus further the aims and goals of The American Legion, without sacrificing an entire Saturday to do so.

8:00 am to 9:00 am – Registration Begins and Breakfast Will Be Served
9:00 am to 9:50 am – Joint Opening
10:00 am to completion − American Legion and Auxiliary Breakout Meetings
12:00 pm – Lunch, plus Post Adjutant Workshop

Both breakfast and lunch will be available. For $6 per person, breakfast will include: fruit, cinnamon rolls/donuts, coffee and juice. For $14 per plate, lunch will be provided with the following options: 1- a hoagie sandwich with pasta salad, 2- a chicken salad sandwich on a croissant, with spinach salad, or 3- a sack lunch for those who would like to leave early. As the lunch items are being offered to order, please contact De Lloyd Jacobsen at (707) 474-7343 by Monday, September 18, 2017 to indicate your preferred lunch menu. Auxiliary Unit 97 will conduct a raffle. Tickets may be purchased for $1 each, or 6 tickets for $5. Additionally, a 50/50 raffle will be held to help support our newly installed Department Commander’s and Auxiliary President’s project.

The Joint Opening will commence in the main hall, with the posting of Colors. Following the opening ceremony, Mayor Janice Duncan will “Welcome” Legion Family Members to Swan Valley.

A few items of business:

1. To meet our timetabled agenda all Post Commanders, as well as Committee Chairs, are urged to email a copy of their Post/Committee Report to ararnold44@gmail.com, no later than Tuesday, September 19, 2017. All reports will be compiled into a book of reports, which will be made available for review during registration.

2. Please bring any resolutions, or other appropriate business matters to the meeting.

3. Department Adjutant of the Year Al Arnold has kindly agreed to conduct a Post Adjutant’s Workshop. Whether you are a newly appointed Adjutant, a seasoned veteran, or are considering the Post Adjutant role as your next undertaking, this workshop will prove to be a valuable resource.

The District 7 meeting will be held at the Swan Valley American Legion Hall, located at 157 Stoltenberg Lane.

Driving Directions to the American Legion Hall.

Exit N. Yellowstone Hwy (US-26) at Stoltenberg Lane. Travel south approximately 0.2 miles. The American Legion Hall will be on the left.

For those who may need overnight accommodations, three options are available:

Rendezvous at the South Fork has cabins for $60 to $93 a night. Please call (208) 483-2267

As a special note, all three properties offer a 10% Veteran’s Discount, so please do not hesitate to ask for the discounted rates. Also, both the Rendezvous at the South Fork and the South Fork Inn and Grill are conveniently located on N. Yellowstone Hwy (US-26). Sleepy J Cabins are located on Highway 31.
