With A Tear In Your Eye

My poem was written to honor an American hero, Sgt. Bryan Anderson, USA. Sgt. Bryan Anderson became the first triple amputee of the Iraq War when his Humvee hit an I.E.D. He lost both legs and one arm! After reflecting on my poem I realized that it was fitting to honor all injured American Veterans.

What’s in a Name?

they is so much more in a name than just a face

Remember (1918)

This year, on the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day, is a time to remember the sacrifices of those who came before us to preserve our freedom.

With A Tear In Your Eye

I wrote this poem for Sgt. Bryan Anderson. Bryan was the first triple amputee of the Iraq War. He was in recovery at Walter Reed when his cousin Bill Schar asked me if I could write my friends encouraging them to write or send cards. I wrote this poem and felt it was appropriate for all members of the service. His mother asked that anyone who visited Sgt. Anderson not cry; I was unaware of that request when I wrote "With A Tear In Your Eye"

Some Call Me Veteran

Based on a life situation that happened December 1967 between my Marine Corps cousin and myself when I was fifteen. This situation changed the entire direction of my life as I had been interested in going into the Marine Corps, up until that fateful night. After graduating High School in 1969, I followed in my father's footsteps and joined the United States Air Force. Even then I spent two years over seas during Vietnam.
