American Legion Legacy Scholarship application for 2024 is online. Click here to apply for the American Legion Legacy Scholarship. The American Legion Legacy Scholarship is available to children whose parents died while honorably serving on active military duty on or after 9/11, as well as children of post-9/11 veterans with a combined VA disability rating of 50 percent or higher.

Samsung American Legion Scholarship application opens

If you are a high school junior who will be attending an American Legion Boys State or Auxiliary Girls State program this summer, you may be eligible for the Samsung American Legion Scholarship. The Samsung American Legion Scholarship is available for high school juniors who participate in the current session of American Legion Boys State or Auxiliary Girls State and are a direct descendant (or legally adopted child) of a U.S. military veteran who served honorably on active duty during a period of war (April 6, 1917-Nov. 11, 1918; or Dec. 7, 1941, until a date as determined by Congress).

Be the One Day

On the first day of every month, Legion Family members are encouraged to wear a Be the One item to show their commitment to reducing the stigma around mental health issues among veterans and servicemembers. Deadline for Veterans Employment & Education Awards

Nomination forms for the Veterans Employment and Education awards are available at www.legion.org/careers/awards. There are five available awards.

National Employer of Veterans Award. This award is offered in three categories: Category I – Employers of more than 200 employees (Large); Category II – Employers of 51-200 employees (Medium); Category III – Employers of 1-50 employees (Small).

80% Membership Target Date

Honor ribbons are awarded to posts whose membership for the current membership year (as of December 31) achieves an advance membership (for the year about to begin) equal to or greater than the final membership for the year ending. Certification forms must be submitted to the Membership Division by Jan. 31 (National Membership Awards Program Manual).

Certificate of Meritorious Service All-Time High Award Deadline

This certificate is awarded to all posts that have enrolled an advance membership for the membership year (as of December 31) equaling or surpassing the post’s previous all-time high membership (page 14 of the National Membership Awards Program Manual).
