Virtual job fair connects job seekers with prospective employers

The successful relationship between The American Legion and Texas government programs aimed at helping veterans find employment continued with a July 12 virtual career fair.

The Legion’s Veterans Employment & Education Division (VEED), the Department of Texas, the Texas Workforce Commission and the Texas Veterans Commission held the event through the Premier Virtual platform—the latest in a series of events spawned during the pandemic to help job seekers connect with prospective employers.

The event was free to employers and job seekers and was open to reservists, National Guardsmen, veterans, active duty servicemembers, and spouses.

Eighty-three organizations and 236 job seekers registered for the event. More than 264 resumes were submitted to employers and 455 unique conversations between job seekers and employers were had, with 3,801 total messages exchanged.

VEED staff will review the data to determine critical takeaways and optimize future events.

The American Legion and Hiring Our Heroes are presenting a hiring fair in conjunction with the Legion’s 104th National Convention on Aug. 24 in Charlotte, N.C. Find details on that event and others at Legion.org/Careers.
