Carl Willis Haggstrom

84, of Apple Valley, and formerly of Venice. Fla., and Edina, passed away peacefully on Jan. 7, 2015. Carl was born Oct, 14, 1930, to Ephraim and Lindes (Erickson) Haggstrom in Leon Township near Cannon Falls. He graduated from Cannon Falls High School in 1948. He went on to attend the University of Minnesota, graduating in 1955. He also spent four years in the Air Force from 1950-1954, serving in the Korean War. Carl spent most of his adult life working for the United States Department of Agriculture before becoming co-owner of Welcome Furniture and Appliance Store. He was an avid Gophers fan, especially basketball and football, and enjoyed going to Canterbury Park prior to moving to Florida, where he and Marvella fell in love with the Gulf of Mexico. He met Marvella Diann Roehlke in October 1956 and they were married on Nov. 16, 1957, at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. They were blessed with two loving children, Ronald Craig and Jill Cami. Carl is survived by his son, Ronald Craig Haggstrom and his wife, Lisa, of Apple Valley, Minn.; his daughter's husband, Jonathan Reynolds, of Venice; four grandchildren, Ryan and David Haggstrom and Marilyn and Melissa Salgado; one brother, Norman Haggstrom of Las Vegas; and two sisters, Marlys Dunning of Bloomington and Carol Bakkethun of Chisholm. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Ephraim and Lindes Haggstrom; his wife, Marvella Diann; his daughter, Jill Cami Reynolds; and brothers-in-law Clark Dunning and Herb Bakkethun.
