Longtime Boulder resident Bill Langfeldt died Dec. 20, 2011, after a brief illness. Bill was born Dec. 16, 1924, in Lockney, Texas, to Will and Bama Langfeldt. The family moved to La Junta, Colo., when Bill was two. Bill attended Otero Jr. College in La Junta. At 18 he joined the U.S. Navy, following the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Throughout World War II, Bill served at Pearl Harbor on the staff of Adm. Chester Nimitz. Following his honorable discharge at the end of the war, Bill attended the University of Colorado in Boulder, completing his BS and MS in pharmacy. He worked in pharmacies in Boulder throughout his career, and retired as a pharmacist at Boulder Community Hospital. Bill and his wife Lucille married in 1948 and the couple had three children, Sheila, Alan and Sharon.
An avid fly fisherman, Bill could often be found fishing the high lakes and rivers throughout Colorado. He was an active member of Masonic Lodge 45, the Boulder Shrine Club and the Boulder Chapter of the Eastern Star, and a member of First United Methodist Church in Boulder.
Bill is survived by his sister, Judy Massey of Paris, Texas, and his three children.
