Leon Jess Snyder

Leon "Lee" Snyder was born Jan. 9, 1922, in Binghamton, N.Y., and moved to Connecticut when he was 5. He joined the CCCs as a teenager and spent about a year in Colorado. Those were among his best memories. When he came back to Connecticut he went to work for Winchester's, where he stayed for 43 years, taking time out for World War II, where he spent three years in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific. Lee married Margaret Westwood upon returning from the war, and they were married for 27 years. They had 2 sons, Leon Jay and Leonard Judson. They both predeceased Lee.
He was married to Gertrude (Pat) in 1977 until her death in 1992. He married Janice (Jan) in 1995.
Lee was a life member of the VFW, American Legion and BPOE. Lee was very active in Scouting for many years, having had his own troop for 17 years. He was honored with the Silver Beaver Award and "Order of the Arrow."
Lee died May 21 at 94, and his ashes went out to his beloved sea July 20, 2016.
