George E. McDaniel

George Edward McDaniel, 79, of North Charleston, S.C., died Monday, Oct. 10, 2016.
George was born Oct. 23, 1936 in Owensboro, Ky., son of Grace Marie Long McDaniel and Thomas Edward McDaniel. He and his wife settled down in North Charleston after their retirement. He served proudly in both the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Air Force. After retirement from the service, he took jobs as an airplane mechanic in various places before becoming a long-distance truck driver. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Catharine McDaniel; children Georgina Goodman of Waco, Texas, Jason McDaniel of Newport News, Va., Jessica Schuman of North Charleston, and Candice McDaniel of Dover, Del.; he was blessed with six grandchildren; brothers and sisters of Owensboro: Betty Jo Blandford, Jim McDaniel, Mary Jane Strehl, Steve McDaniel, Tony McDaniel and Linda Darlene Beyke of Whitesville, Ky. He was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Kay Ebelhar; his brothers, Jerry McDaniel and Larry McDaniel; and his parents, Thomas and Grace McDaniel.
There is not enough space in an obituary to sum up George. He was a straight-shooting family man who knew no strangers. He wasn't complicated or fussy and would always bring life to the room with his quick wit and sense of humor. People who met him immediately knew they wanted to know him better. He loved his family fiercely. There was no better husband, daddy, pepaw or friend in this world. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him and he will be thought of often. He lived a life full of happiness and love.
