Thomas Lee Moore Jr.

Thomas L. Moore Jr., 91, of Carmel and Indianapolis, formerly of Prince’s Lake and of Avon Park and Sebring, Fla., died May 18, 2016. Born in Muncie, Ind., he was the only son of Thomas Moore Sr. and Gertrude Stolz Moore.
He is survived by his three children, Glenn (Charlene) Moore of Kentucky, Holly Fortune of Indianapolis and Lisa (Rex) Weiper, of Carmel; and two stepchildren, Mark Nyikos of Alabama and Michelle Brown of Florida, as well as six grandchildren and two step-grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wives Fay Ann Merritt Moore and Roberta (Bobbie) Korstad Nyikos Moore, as well as his parents and four half-sisters, Ruth, Naomi, Marjorie and Alice.
He was a Florida resident from 1990 through 2013, and enjoyed golf and cards among his hobbies there. He was a graduate of Tech High School, attended the University of Oklahoma, and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was an electrician and 60-plus-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 369, Louisville chapter, a member of Masonic Lodge, The American Legion and Murat Shrine in Indianapolis, did volunteer work for Sertoma, and was a former business owner in Indianapolis, being a partner in the heating and air conditioning business of Hilmes & Moore in the 1960s. He retired in 1990 from Indianapolis Power & Light, where he was a department head in Heating and Air Conditioning Sales. He taught HVAC at Ivy Tech. He was a reserve deputy sheriff for a number of years in Indianapolis. He built his home at Prince’s Lake. He was a generous person who expressed his gratitude for being lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time on a number of occasions. He always had the best interests of his children at heart, and will be sadly missed by family and friends. He will be cremated and inurnment will be in Avon Park, Fla., with his wife Bobbie.
