Dana was born July 14, 1953, at St Elizabeth’s Hospital in Lincoln, Neb., to Irene and Hubert Fox, where he was raised in a loving home. Dana is survived by his brothers Dennis and Dillard Fox, as well as nieces and nephews. Dana was a devoted son and very proud of his heritage, collecting fox ornaments, paintings and objets d’art wherever he travelled.
Upon completing high school, Dana received a congressional appointment to the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., and served with honor from 1975 until 1984. During activity service, Dana was a surface warfare officer aboard ship, a communications officer in South Korea, and then became highly involved in the Navy’s drug and alcohol counseling and prevention programs in Naples, Italy, and San Diego. After leaving active service, Dana worked in the admissions dept. at the Betty Ford Center at Eisenhower in Rancho Mirage, Calif., until he moved to the Pacific Northwest in 1993. Dana held the title of senior product education trainer and knowledge consultant over his career at Phamis/IDX/GE until the time of his passing.
Throughout his adult life, Dana practiced the Christian values of serving and giving to others. He generously supported many charities - breast cancer, multiple sclerosis, lung cancer, Diabetes Association, Stand with Children, to name a few, as well as his hometown and local churches – 1st United Methodist in Ogallala, Neb., and Redeemer United Methodist in Kingston, Wash.
Dana enjoyed teaching, foreign travel, running, was an avid reader, and was active in music and little theatre. Most importantly, Dana cherished spending time with family and friends. Dana will be tremendously missed by the many people whose lives he has made better for knowing him.
